Maddie Jay & The pH Collective

For Booking and Inquirys:

Maddie Jay refuses to recognize the boundaries of genre. Along with the pH Collective, she measures the acidity of jazz, disco and funk, exploring harmonies deeper than space itself, all while holding down the low end with her school-bus yellow 5 string bass and her Moog synthesizers.

The project pulls from diverse influences such as Jamiroquai, Anderson Paak, The Internet, Nujabes and K. Flay to create their own mesmerizing original genre of psychedelic instrumental hip-hop. While the rich harmony and complex forms provide a colourful backdrop, the simplistic old school beats and pop hooks keep the music accessible and memorable.

Moondog is the collective's sophomore release enters the realm of electro spaz pop while still carefully riding the edges of organic r&b. Trippy meets groovy, psychedelic meets catchy, and ethereal meets tight and punchy.

"this is the sound a group of equally-weighted musicians, with no audible weak links. It's the sound of a band defying any existing convention in Jazz, Pop or R&B...."

"Overflowing with nasty grooves, silky smooth production, and heavenly background vocals, this album just does not quit. Not one track on here is boring at all. Each one has a distant nostalgia but at the same time a very real independence to it."

“Deep grooves and lush arrangements..The 8-song collection showcases Jay’s slick bass lines and vocals as well as her writing chops.”
